Flash is dead, so how can I provide interactive activities and content for my learners? Learn how you can use H5P, to create, share and reuse interactive activities in your browser. This will allow you to modernize your courses without needing to install any proprietary software

H5P (HTML5 Package) is an open source content collaboration framework based on JavaScript. de Souza Institute has been using it to help adapt the interactive activities from the last decade (mainly flash) to the modern web, without compromising on functionality. H5P allows Subject Matter Experts, Instructional Designers and Developers to work together closely to create complex or simple activities. It is also easy to use and does not require programming knowledge to change or make content.

Below are two examples. The first is an Interactive Video used in our Interprofessional Education in Palliative and End-of-Life Care (iEPEC-O) course that shows some of the features available in the interactive video activity. Below that is an H5P activity that was built to show how it can be easily edited, feel free to download the copy of the Interactive Book and adapt it by using the ‘reuse’ button in the bottom left. Please also see below for links to H5P resources and community, including catalogues of H5P content that can be re-used or adapted.
