May 4-10 is National Hospice Palliative Care Week

The first full week of May marks National Hospice Palliative Care Week in Canada. The Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association (CHPCA) reminds us this is a time to celebrate and share achievements of hospice palliative care throughout the nation, but it also provides a platform to look at shortcomings and create bridges for these gaps.

During the COVID19 pandemic, we understand that it can be especially difficult for practitioners working with patients with advanced illness to begin conversations about care. We want to offer you a toolbox of communication strategies to draw from when you can’t find the words to start an important discussion.

Interprofessional Education in Palliative Care (iEPEC) – Communication in Palliative Care introduces you to communication frameworks and tools for exploring issues associated with suffering reported by patients and families, guiding you through specific strategies for speaking with patients and families about diagnosis, prognosis, goals of care, symptoms, and advance care planning.

To help frontline clinicians during this difficult and stressful time, de Souza Institute will be offering select modules from the iEPEC course free to all.

You can access the free iEPEC modules on the de Souza website
